Help With Configuring A Mining Setup

Is there anyone knowledgeable about these things and living in the Central Coastal area of California able and willing to help me build a reasonable mining setup?? I've been researching this on my own, but am confused about what will work best for Decred. I would really like to do this, but almost assuredly can't alone.

I just set up dual mining with ETH + DCR using Claymore. Dwarfpool for ETH and Coinmine for Decred. Claymore looks like it's running properly and is finding shares, but my account in Coinmine hasn't shown any activity.

Any help is appreciated! I just got into mining a few weeks ago so I'm trying to figure some of these things out from a zero experience basis.

Hey guys,

Am hoping for some help with picking out a decent card to use. My understanding is that with other cryptos such as ETH the amount of memory (for the DAG) and memory clock speed are what are the key factors for picking out a GPU. What factors should I keep in mind and compare when looking for a dedicated GPU for decred?

i recently created my first rig setup :

MB : Asus Z270-A Pro
CPU : Celeron G3900
4GB RAM
120gb Corsair SSD

PSU :850w Fortron (FSP) Hydro G
GPU : 4x MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X

First i connected only 2 GPUs because i was waiting for risers ... Configured the system optimized gpus ...

My problem is that the PSU has 6x 6+2 pin output (3x2(6+2)) and the GPUS need 8+6 pin so at the moment i can run only 3 cards . I was trying to run 3-4 GPU just with 8 pins but that doesnt worked. Can...

I thought that I would start small but with room for expansion. So the logical step was to get a case for the future GPU's as well as drop some of my old GPU's into it at first.

Anyone have any stats on the new nvidia cards that were release. Be it the 1070 or 1080. Personally I think I'm going to wait for the new gen of AMD. However if anyone has some good reading material or experience with the new card I am all ears.
Thus far from the reviews that I've seen it looks like it isnt worth the money until updated drivers and more DX12 capabilities.

Okay, so I am new to this from the ETH world. Right now I can't get any 470/480/570/580 cards as most know. So I have the ability to get 6 1070's for a fairly good price. Decred is new to me so I am trying to figure this out.

Looking online, it looks like it maybe could get 2505 a card in hash power? Is that accurate? If so, lets say just 12k hash out of 6 cards, what would the coins be per month? I looked for a calculator but I could not find anything really accurate. power .12kw

About 2 weeks ago I begin to experience strange problems on my mining rig:
* GPU #1 got redicolous temp. reading 511°C and hashrate come down to 0
* mining rig freezes
* after restart it work fine for few minutes
* If only one GPU was working, than it was fine

At this point I begin with exaust testing:
PSU XFX and GPU #1 - everything working fine for few days; conclusion: GPU #1 is OK
PSU XFX and GPU #2 - everything working fine for few...

Hi, I've been experimenting (or rather playing around) with an old Zeus Asic Thunder miner that can handle itself with sha256 and scrypt (mainly scrypt). I was wondering how and whether I could use it to try mining decred. Is it even possible? The last version of cgminer that recognizes Zeus Thunder is from 2014.

Hey there.

I don't want to take too much time on this. I was wondering if there was any way I can get a higher hashrate off of an nvidia gtx660. Currently I am only able to mine at a speed of ~375mh/s when my gtx960 can mine at ~1100 mh/s. Both using the latest version of ccminer (v7.6 optimized for dcr mining.) I just found it very odd that a card a few generations newer would be nearly 3x faster.

I just finished my build with 6 diamond r9 290x and I have no idea if i should use windows or linux ...

I also saw many videos on youtube and some of the builders there use SSD for the operating system. Is that a must ?

How to update your clock and memory:

Enable overdrive, and set the clock.

Where 1000 is the spot for you clock, and 1500 is the spot...

Hey all,

I was wondering how you could see if a GPU is descent for mining?
I figured some of us (including me) dont have the money to spend on multiple R9 290 cards.
So in my case i searched the internet for some used Gpu's (bought 2 HD6950 because they did perform pretty ok with srypt mining) For decred they didnt work so good tho.

My question really, What are the speccs you need to look at to know if a card is descent for mining decred?
For example the HD 6950 has 2GB, 800Mhz Core,...
