    Hello everyone,

Another quick announcement to let you know airdrop sign up closes on January 18th, 2016. The project expects one or two final batches of e-mail invitations to go out during the week of the 18th. This date does not represent the date airdrop coins are available to participants that have confirmed their invitations by generating a seed, verifying it, and submitting a Decred address. The coins will not be available until the launch of mainnet which is tentative at the moment.

Once airdrop has concluded as described, 100% of the the project's focus will be on getting the software ready for testnet and miner binaries for public release. Miner specifications will also be provided in one place so everyone has the same information and the process is conducted fairly. Mainnet will launch one week after this milestone is reached - assuming no significant technical issues occur.

Updates will be posted to this thread - as they occur - about progress on the release of a public testnet and mining software. All the developers are working full-time and daily on getting it ready for you. Hang in there! Thank you to everyone who has spent countless hours helping others through the process and answering questions. It's become the foundation that drives the project.

    Sincerely,
    Decred Project

I am looking forward for what will come. I would prefer delays so as everything to be as stable it could at launch and anyway I believe many of us in this forum found out about Decred only 2 - 3 weeks ago, so there is no reason to rush. I also think someone trying to build their mining system now will appreciate some more time anyway.

You are to be congratulated!!! Very good, I thought I had no job for me in the Airdrop. When is the release of MainNet?

Fantastic, I couldn't be more excited about this project!

I have to say that the way you guys are going about this is superb, top organisation. Having this forum and keeping everyone updated is working great and there's a wonderful vibe between the users because of it.
I know that this is going to be a success, I can feel it and so can everyone else!
I could not be more greatful to have the opportunity to be part of it.
    Thank you

I am very impressed with the organization and professionalism displayed since the inception of the project. You have done everything right from the start, including the delay. Rushing does not yield the best results. Take your time. Success doesn't happen from sub-par performances caused by trying to meet deadlines. Flexibilty, and quality work pays off in the end. The community has been great, and I'm grateful to be included. Thanks everyone.

Is there something like a Fair Mining policy?
It's because Bitcoin has been accused by many as being controlled by a handful miners with 90% hashrate.
Obviously, Decred doesn't want to fall under the same trap too.
One way to address this maybe like limiting the hashrate to a certain limit, so no party can take advantage, just like there is Fair Usage Policy imposed by ISP's throughout the world.

    Block size controls transactions/second.
Block generation time controls the number of coins that can be mined in a certain time.
Block Reward halving time also controls the same as above.
Is there something that controls Pareto's principle(20/80rule)?.I mean very less people controlling g very high mining power!(This is a very important principle of decentralization)

Correct me if I am wrong.. :)

It's impossible to cut hashrate in a range limit.
It's not a democratic way for miners.

Simply cause if someone's spent thousands dollars/euro to invest in mining rigs,it's not fair to cut his hasrate.

    Are

You maybe right in one part.

But decentralization means no one can take authority. Also it doesn't need to mean if someone spent like million dollars on mining, they can control vast part of the network hashrate. This is what has happened to Bitcoin recently.

^ true, but i believe decreds governance model takes care of the issue of couple big miners deciding everything.

I dont want it to take too long, because outside temperature will get warmer which influences mining :(

    think about it

If you limit hashrate what is stop someone from just creating multiple rigs in parallel. 6 of 1 half dozen of another...
