Hello Everyone, Mainnet launch is nearing and I hope all of you are excited pretty much as I am. At this stage, we need everyone to seamlessly understand how 'Decred' works. This is where Guides,Tutorials and Wiki come into play. There are some Wallet Guides and Mining Guides under the 'Mining Discussion' and 'Language Specific Threads' which cover the basics of starting up the wallet and mining options. Still this is not enough and it would be highly helpful if we could build more Guides relating to the following. These guides can provide information and teach us about 'PoS Mining', 'PoW Mining', 'Tickets', 'Gpu Hashes', 'Pooling Software' ,etc. People can also add Screenshots, Video Guides to Youtube for easy and better understanding to First Timers and Newbies. Remember, we must translate these guides and tutorials to most of the Major languages of the world as 'Decred' is a truly global community with different backgrounds. We've got a group of great Translators to get this job done. Looking forward to you guys to start building guides, videos and wikis. Also, we need to cooperate since we don't want everyone to do the same thing. Some of you do this, some do that, etc. If you contribute enough, you might be granted 'Wiki Editing'access to improve things even more. Please post your suggestions and ideas in this thread below. Best Regards, Anondran
How about a special thread in order to centralize the different would-be translators ? In this thread people could post a link to the translated posts they made, so native speakers who have enough knowledge of Decred could proofread it. Moreover I think a kind of a "devs seal of approval" would be good on checked Guides/tutorials/wikis so beginners know that they can trust the author.
I just made a tutorial for setting up the chain server and wallet on separate machines: https://forum.decred.org/threads/tu...ain-server-set-up-on-your-raspberry-pi-2.379/ (I assume forum management will move that to a more appropriate place if necessary)
Tha That would be great too. People posting links to their guides will help in organizing the various guides spread across the forum. Devs are generally verifying and correcting user-guides, so the guides are validated.
I'm working on PoS, and would like a dcrctl command guide. I would be willing to work it. Each command and a example of syntax, along with use out put.
Yeah, a PoS guide would be really helpful and I don't think there's a guide for that right now. dcrctl -h, and various command samples with description should do the job Edited: There are PoS guides -->https://wiki.decred.org/Solo_Stake_Mining
Ya I got that , thanks again brother. bu,t as I'm using it I’m doing more asking a shit load of questions, so i'm going to work on all commands in the l flag from dcrctl term. Id like to have a complete command wiki..not just to start it up. like a quick ref with definitions
@jimmy16 Aye. I was actually responding to @anondran there that a guide actually does exist. I should've specified that. I think what you're doing here is a great idea and will be helpful. Documentation is sorely lacking at the moment as is typically the case at the start of any new project. The way the community is pitching in to help with guides and doco is really fantastic.
I am thinking of creating a new page on wiki for this. I will fill in the details for commands that i understand. Although i can't make any promises as i am a bit busy elsewhere. Others can take the initiative and i will chip in when i will have time.
Hey all, I'm keeping my promise: http://decreddiscovery.blogspot.com/ I'm writing a daily blog where I discuss my Decred discoveries. As I'm a total newbie myself it will be understandable for a wide public. Any feedback regarding the blog is welcome. If there are any channels to promote this blog I'd also be happy to hear that.
I'm still up to making videos guides and tutorials and _ingsoc said they are setting up a youtube channel as a hub for it. So if anyone want to team up with me after the mainnet is live to cover all the basics tutorials and guides.
I like this article. It is posted on my facebook page. I want all my friends to know that it is a new crypto-currency in town. DECRED!!!
Haha, omg. I was reading this thread and noticed it said Advocate (Reddit) under your username and was like, hmm so your reddit username is Advocate? Then I decided to look it up reddit.com/u/Advocate and it seemed like the weirdest comments ever LOL so I got really confused as to what was going on. After reading your post history here it made even less sense, until I stumbled upon someone else who had the title Advocate (Twitter) and I realised what a dumbass I am. Not sure why I decided to share this. ;P
Haha no but if you look at them closely it seems like a bot or something who spams the same-ish comments over and over, and it obviously wasn't him.
Ok, here is my guide for Newbians, abuse it, translate it, videofy it as you please. Written from what I have learned from you all and figured for myself. Unfortunately, I am but a mere Locksmith and html/css guy, not a programmer on the level of a lot of you. http://www.centralsafeandlock.com/dcr/ Have fun. Keymitch
