I am brand new to bitcoin and crytocurrencies. I followed all the steps to get registered for the airdrop. I confirmed my address. Now what? I found some directions telling me to download new decred software and then enter my 'already chosen Decred username' etc. https://forum.decred.org/threads/pr...import-mining-guide-use-at-your-own-risk.472/ Problem is that I did not choose a Decred username, or a 'strong password' etc. , that I can recall. Was this during registration for the airdrop? Or , is this something that I didn't do because no one directed me to do it and skipped ahead to where I was I supposed to have already done it? trying to run cgminer.exe and getting the error message: The program cannot start because OpenCL.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. can someone post a simple sequential guide to what has to done to get the coins ?
"Choosing" it in this case just means contriving one. Just think of a username and password: you will type those into the command line interface as instructed by the guide.
I second this request. A simple step by step would be much appreciated. I can't figure out how to create my wallet with the address assigned in the airdrop process. And if there are special instructions for those of us on Apple OS, I would appreciate knowing those steps as well. Thanks in advance!
one thing I found so far is that you can check your address to see your coins at the decred.org site here: https://mainnet.decred.org/ At the above link, paste your decred address into the box labeled 'search for block, transaction, or address' and it will tell you your balance. A lot of people who are not ready to mine decred yet will just want to do this to confirm that their coins are in their account first.
thanks for sorting that out, anvoice. As evidenced by my confusion hereI hope this guide is reworded so that it states more clearly what is required. The way it is worded implies that we've already done something which we have not done yet.
Choose as in choose a good one right now. Also i included that in prerequisites section which was posted a few hours before the launch so that people have time to think good passwords & save/write them.
I am getting that now too. It was working earlier, the site is up and down all day, all sorts of bugs still being worked out. Hopefully everything will get ironed out over the next few days and you will be able to see your coin balance at your address in awhile as they sort through it all.
