Closing cgminer freezes my desktop if i change the settings of the fan in any way (setting it to auto or a fixed number). Linux 64 bit. I have to hard reset my pc every time.
Mining with NVIDIA GPUs. Daemon runs perfectly. Wallet runs perfectly. cgminer(0.0.4) crashes along with nvopencl.dll. Is it a drivers issue? Did anybody stumbled upon it? Thanks
So i'm wondering, do I stop solo mining and join pool for a couple of coins or do I stick to solo? for example: Suprnova pool is almost half the network hash power? Pool Hash: 1,325,188.30MH/s Pool Workers: 538 Net Hash: 2,216,478.16 MH/s
There seems to be an issue with the windows version of the miner causing "unknown-work" rejects: https://forum.decred.org/threads/suprnovas-dcr-pool.422/page-9#post-8140
I think the only x86 versions of cgminer for Decred at this time are the initial ones: v.0.0 and v.0.0.1 and I don't know if you can use them on Mainnet without any problems but you'll need --notls flags with them for sure.
Not exactly, the pool would have to act with malicious intent, and it would need to get enough in a row to pull off the attack. Technically, and its been a while since i have see the math so source check this, with 40% of the power, you have a 95% confidence interval for pulling off the attack inside a 1 week time frame. TLDR: you will still find blocks even if a pool has 51%
I have an 8370 and it uses about the same using the stock one. Using my own private code, it feeds the GPUs work faster using a bit less CPU, due to a far better CPU Blake-256 - BUT I haven't replaced regenhash yet.
Is there anyone with hashrate up to 2 Gh/s still solo mining? Did you got lucky and solve any block mining solo with hashrate up to 2Gh/s or similar?
Around 1.1 Gh/s with GTX970 mining solo from the start of mainnet ( 62 hours now ) without any luck. It worked fine with the testnet. I believe a native Nvidia support can raise 50%, but I see no reason spending the time with it. I put my FPGA development on hold as well. Not very fond of a project where nearly a half of the net hash speed is concentrated in one subject / pool.
Well solo mining is a lottery so i wont be surprised. About hashpower, Dash has all its power concentrated in 3 pools but its still successful because it works. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/#!extraction Also decred will soon have its PoS voting enabled at block 4096 which is designed to keep big pools/miners honest, so don't worry.
To turn this into opportunity : if there are 10 miners with decent Nvidia card interested in trying improved software, please PM me your PC configuration and OS version. Zero fee of course. Edit : thread https://forum.decred.org/threads/zero-fee-pow-pool-with-improved-nvidia-support.601/
Looks like the 960 gets about 1.1 GH/s according to one person. I imagine the GTX 950 would be in the 700-800 MH/s range. The 960 or 970 seem like decent NVIDIA buys on ebay, while the R9 280x seems decend on the AMD side.
Well from what I've seen on forum posts, GTX 970 has about 1.1 Gh/s on cgminer so I expect GTX 960/GTX 950 to have lower hashrate than 1.1Gh/s since they have much less cuda cores than GTX 970.
