    Hi Decred Community!

It is my pleasure to announce the public opening of Stake Pool Bravo, with a clean new look! Have a look at the attached screenshot or follow the link below. I'm announcing on behalf of the RFP signers (not me) as I'm in charge of the tech aspects.

    https://dcr.stakepool.net/

Stake Pool Bravo is a group effort. I'm the tech guy / sysadmin (I'm not a signer of the RFP for the pool), but I've put a lot of love into it, so I'll try to stay on this forum thread for our users.

We have worked hard to develop a voting wallet infrastructure that is:
    • Highly redundant
    • Distributed across the globe for low overall network latency
Offsite backups are also created regularly. The wallets themselves are monitored continuously. Altogether, Bravo will provide a highly reliable and fault tolerant solution for your PoS voting.

After seven weeks on testnet, several thousand votes, and hundreds of development hours, we now proudly and confidently open our pool to public staking on mainnet. Fees are 5% of vote subsidy (about 0.09 DCR) and will only go down as the DCR market strengthens.

Each operator will be available to field queries in this thread, via PM, or through the official support email posted on the site.

    Thanks, and happy staking!

Switching from the first official stake pool that will stop operating soon, I’ve choose to continue PoS with your stake pool. I like the work on your stake pool site and from your participation on the Decred forum I think you should have setup everything to run stable and safe.

I am not a big staker but I hope I will have no reason to switch PoS pool again and that Dcr.stakepool.net - Stake Pool Bravo will have enough users and tickets to be competitive to other pools and keep the pool fees as low as possible without compromising its stability. From what I understand, small percentage % differences between pool fees is less important than keeping a low proportion of missed tickets.

    So, good luck staking!

@chappjc Do you think I should stay with v0.1.3 or just don’t use dcrticketbuyer with the pool for now? Will I have problems using dcrticketbuyer on v0.1.4?

Also on ticket instructions, I think you should better give notice to users that the wallet needs to be unlocked to import script and on Option B that the wallet also has to be unlocked to be able to manually buy tickets.

@zero Thanks, and welcome to the pool!

I've replied to your post about dcrticketbuyer in the other thread. I hope that helps answer your questions about it. I suggest using it to get your tickets mined more quickly, and avoid missing good price opportunities on account of too-low ticket fees. If more people use it, we may even see a more stable ticket price.

Regarding Bravo, we're around for the long haul, and we'll make no compromises. We are all dedicated to keeping it stable and ensuring wallets are always voting. Fsig is an expert web developer, I have decades of experience in development and systems administration, and we're all becoming passable DevOps engineers and statisticians in the process. :) Although we all have day jobs, and this is very much a hobby for us, we're very excited and committed to it!

Pool fees will never go up, as long as DCR remains strong. If Decred really takes off as we all are expecting on some time scale, we'll drop fees significantly as we're not aiming to make money, rather to support Decred PoS. Right now the pool reward portion is less than 0.09 DCR, which is less than a common ticket purchase fee. Bravo will stay online 24/7 waiting for a ticket to get called for a vote, and users won't need burn a single watt-hour of their own power in that time. This is the efficient way for PoS to operate.

Thanks for the feedback on the ticket instructions! We will definitely be improving all the wording to be more clear and helpful.

Just a warning to users of the new dcrticketbuyer tool: It is in "alpha" state and there are bugs. (The stake pool is stable and ready production, however!) In particularly, fees management in the tool might be a little problematic. You may want to set minfee to whatever you think it should be for a certain ticket price (at least 0.1 for tickets <17). This is nothing to do with the pool, just the mining of the purchase transaction, which can be competitive for low prices.

@chappjc Thanks for the further information and explanations.

I think I am going to update to v0.1.4 but I'll might leave the dcrticketbuyer for later.

@chappjc @Fsig I've finally bought some tickets with the P2SH address from your PoS pool. I really like that you have a "Voted Tickets" section on site but can you also add a count of how many tickets we have on pool in total? Thanks in advance.

We're getting ready to release a number of new pages rich in useful statistics for pool users and all Decred users. This information will certainly be included. That said, the total number of tickets delegated to the pool and waiting to vote can be found on the current stats page (live + immature).

Note that we'd also like to show the total tickets in mempool, waiting to be mined, that belong to the stake pool (what users see as "ownmempooltix" in their wallets). However, a deficiency of dcrwallet currently prevents that.

Just finished up some maintenance on the web server. Took a little longer than expected. No changes to the wallets, which are running smoothly, as can be seen by our stats. :)

Sorry for the downtime all! Brief connectivity trouble with one of the wallets was just fixed. No missed voted of course as we have a flock of wallets in the job. :)

    Announcements
    1. The feature to change your email address or password has been enabled for a few weeks now (see screenshot at bottom). Just click on your email address or "Settings" in the navigation bar at the top of the site.
    2. Password reset is also available if you've forgotten your password, assuming your email address is valid.
    3. New sign ups will require email validation for the above reasons.
    4. Ticket vote bits may be set again. Note that presently the vote options are simply "yes" or "no" to blocks, but extended vote bits will be settable soon to support upcoming events on the "upgrading consensus" front.
    5. I've added one -- just one -- tracking js (Google Analytics) so I can see when the site is busiest. Please let me know if this is objectionable! I do not want to alienate anyone over this, but it is helpful to me. Note that NoScript (Firefox) or Ghostery (Chrome) can handily block this if you want, and that is perfectly OK. BTW, There will never be ads on the site.

@chappjc you can replace the existing class of all inputs on the page with this one:
    Code:
    class="glow w100"
    And for 2 buttons:
    Code:
    class="raw-button red-button"
PS: Google Analytics? Didn't you watch that Snowden's movie? ;)

@Dyrk Thanks for the help. That page needs consistent forms, yes.

Haven't seen the movie. FWIW, I am not using the option with all the extensive metrics and unnecessary stuff. It's the most basic site monitoring code.

I have purchased some tickets through dcr.stakepool.net and I was wondering if someone here could explain to me how I can configure the way the ticket votes, whether that configuration is relevant yet, and, if it isn't yet, how it will be and look in the future. Thanks

Hi Jazzah, voting is currently being tested on Testnet, so while it technically is relevant, it's not quite implemented for Mainnet yet. Here are two threads on this forum which provide a ton of information.

    https://forum.decred.org/threads/upgrading-consensus.4072/
    https://forum.decred.org/threads/voting-update.4960/

    I hope this helps!

Tyvm David, I will read up on those docs to make sure I have a better picture about this, imo, most essential feature of Decred when it goes live. Have a nice day

@chappjc I've seen new voting options on the stake pool website, so I guess we won't need to buy tickets any different. We can just change votebits from there, right?

That's correct @zero ! No changes to how you buy tickets are necessary.
