Some may suspect that I am lying about the 'invalid seed' issue I ran into. All I can do is state exactly what happened. I would not lie about it, and anyone is welcome to contact David , who can verify that I did find the correct seed words on a paper and David can verify that we were able to create a binary wallet and were able scan the Decred into it , etc. you can find David here: https://forum.decred.org/members/david.1047/ David never once handled the seed words, it was me who entered the seed to successfully create the binary wallet. David can confirm that it scanned in the airdrop coins, and then later Jesse's theft transaction went through and the balance went to zero. David can verify that someone who received the airdrop scanned my airdrop to their own airdrop address. I posted clear evidence that it was Jesse, who was the only other person who could have done that. I would ask for and accept donations because I hope that some people will want to help out with one or two decred. I hope that I can still be part of this promising community and project, and if there is a wealthy or generous community member who weighs this a worthy cause, then please by all means help out with a small donation. @RegenX here is an idea. Why not do something to promote decred in your local community, maybe take your smartphone go around the town and in stores and ask them if they know about crypto and explain to them what decred is, record all this and post it here. You can do this when you go out to buy some stuff. Every forum member can then donate atleast 1 DCR to you. This is just an idea, you can comeup with something else which helps the project. It would be fun experiment for you and some help for the project as well.
that is not a bad idea, to do that or do something like it to earn being put back on my feet. At the time that this theft happened I was already putting in some time to promoting Decred. I had already sent emails to several blockchain/alt coin -related sites and Youtube channels to get some interviews lined up for Ingsoc , and tried a couple of graphics projects for fun with the logo and doing what I could to help on the forum. Anyone can check my posting history to verify that. I was too fast out of the gate with my interview requests because Decred developers were still busy with the airdrop and the other technical aspects of launching Decred, and wanted to have Decred up and flying before doing media. A component of a good promotional video could be to have some interview excerpts to use in the promotional video. That way we kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. We not only get the exposure for Decred via existing blockchain media , channels etc., we also have the audio from those interviews to play with later and use as audio or narrative for Decred's own promotional video. Sadly, I spent more time on trying to help promote Decred and help out on the forum etc. after the airdrop than I spent learning how to get my wallet and coins secured. I certainly had planned to do A LOT MORE promotional work for Decred out of both gratitude and of course a healthy interest in boosting the value of the airdrop for all of us. and of course will continue along such lines if I can buy in at some time when I can afford to. Let me say again the hard work of the creators of Decred deserves recognition and support in this initial stage. This whole thing has been a rolller coaster ride of highs and lows for me so far. Right now my hopes ..........I don't know what to think.
Having some raw footage of some bitcoiner's thoughts on decred in your local community will be interesting. You know just simple cuts with your mobile joined together. I hope you can do something of that sort. I will send you 2 DCR if you post something like that and hope others will join.
I can't get over how ironic this is. Whatever the case is, I'm sure promoting Decred will inspire at least a few community members to donate.
I have to come up with a way to promote Decred which would be really effective, something of real benefit to getting Decred in wider use.
I have something in the works (with the advantage of it also being a new product for me to sell), but it's about 1-2 months out due to testing and materials acquisition.
