To make it clear you may want to post this in the main thread. I was under the impression that we would have Sunday to set up and get everything ready for release. That appears to not be the case. We only have a padlocked binary until Monday. I had skipped a superbowl party to get this stuff ready... haha

Great job on keeping to the schedule though!

Awesome! Will the binaries be uploaded as normal zip and tar.gz files tomorrow? Just asking so I can prepare the update for my GUI until tomorrow.

The released source doesn't compile on purpose. (It has the genesis blocks and chainparams left out).

I'd have preferred you guys released the code working for testnet and add mainnet functionality on launch.

But, well... Since you didn't, I reverse engineered it and added the missing bits for testnet functionality myself. For anyone wanting to hack on the code on testnet before launch, there you go:

That must be too late but for a good timed start of the mainet why not give 0 reward for the first 100 block found ?

I guess because mining time was announced weeks earlier so everybody has a fair chance to jump online, if it wasn't about decred i would be worried about possible forks given by the huge hashrate sent to the chain right from second 1, but since they made the code in the way that it won't fork i am pretty sure that everything will be allright

    A couple newbie questions:

    1. Is the dcrctl file inside the final binary (just confused by the lack of it listed in the original post)? Or should we be using the one we downloaded for testnet?

    2. Is there a new cgminer in the final binary? I had downloaded one based on a guide here, and successfully mined on testnet with it (thank you, again, @sambiohazard), but if possible, please link to a recommended cgminer to run for mainnet?

    1. From what I have gathered in this thread, dcrctl remains unchanged. Can't currently see zip contents, but I would assume it's packaged with the rest of the mainnet files.

    2. As far as I have seen, decred cgminer 0.0.3 is what they have setup for mainnet mining.

From what i have read so far, we have first import our airdrop seed(@davecgh said you cant add the seed later), create a new address & then launch dcrd & dcrwallet for solo mining with that address (as @ocminer has requested to not use pool for launch). Am i right? I would need to update the guide or probably write a whole new guide with steps to import airdrop seed. The problem is that i am not myself sure of all the steps to take until i have done it myself(& am a bit nervous myself) and by that time guide would be probably too late for most people. Also, i don't want anyone to loose their airdrop because of me. I would like to request the devs & @_ingsoc to put up a guide on wiki for airdrop seed import before launch which i can point to in my guide. I hope this can be done in few hours remaining. Thanks :)

so are your saying if we are solo mining from launch, we have to use our original airdrop details for mining wallet or we lose the airdrop shares?

    Hi @sambiohazard,
Thank you for your continued support. While I plan to try to make it through the process as early as possible myself, anything you might put together (even with a disclaimer of not having tested it yet and/or leaving section details vague) would be greatly appreciated and I'd bet helpful to many.
