It's been 10 weeks now that Decred is facing some difficulties against Bitcoin's price! We know that the core dev is busy, that the project is 8 months old. But a few people say, the one that were given Decred at the Airdrop should be involved into the project as well. We need more direct sales to avoid the centralisation of a few on Poloniex, Bittrex, Bleutrade. Any seller on the forum?
you should recruit some PR person for Bitcointalk people seems like more cool slides and hype instead of technical innovations
Is anyone still involved in Decred at all? I mined for a while and got the Airdrop, but prices are plummeting. What gives?
I'm in since December, but not many air droppers are involved. The price will keep plummeting, the inflation is too high, no markets, no marketing, no more enthusiasm about the project. Investor buy the dips, and the price will keep falling. Premine is too big, the image of Decred on Polo is bad!
I love the idea of Decred, and I have a decent amount after the airdrop plus some small initial mining, but I'm just wondering why it's radio silence all of the sudden. I'd love to be more involved - I just don't know how.
We're finally past the initial speculator and buzz phase. Development is continuing, but it's more the boring behind the scenes stuff now. The price will continue to drop for a while as some have said due to reduced demand and new supply that isn't being absorbed. I don't expect a recovery for a good 12-18 months now as the project continues to mature. Once it becomes more feature complete and has uses beyond speculation the price will rise again.
We will be doing a marketing push in the coming months, along with a cross-platform GUI based in electron. The behind the scenes improvements we made may seem boring, but they are in fact laying the groundwork for the amazing things to come. Stay tuned...
Well we always appreciate submitted issues and bugs on github Also, we are always looking for new ideas for marketing and how to best get the word out. We feel like with the upcoming electron wallet, we can attract a lot more users that may not have the technical abilities that some of our early software has required.
I think that having a simplified roadmap image can get more people to know Decred, so far we only have wordy milestones to meet in the forums right? Also, are there anyone in charge that the public can speak to with regards to the plans/movements/developments in Decred? If there is, how should the public approach him? With regards to interviews / Q&A / investor talks and etc? I think the above should help a little with getting the word out.. But I'm not an expert or anything, just suggesting.. =)
@jy-p would be best to field any requests for interviews/Q&A etc Noted on developing a more approachable roadmap. We are getting various blog entries ready for public release.
So interviews/Q&A can be done with @jy-p and people can approach him via Forums / Slack? So I can safely assume that @jy-p is leading Decred as of now?
Hello, Milolce. In terms of instant messaging, I am most readily available via IRC since Slack is yet-another-tab in one of my browser windows. If you're interested in conducting a public conversation, the forum is really best for that. While I know that the price of Decred matters to everyone who holds it, it is common for altcoins to have a ton of price volatility. It is important to be ready for this psychologically and financially when holding altcoins. Since Company 0 is a large holder of Decred, these price swings certainly affect us as well, but we have experienced similar or worse swings in the past with Bitcoin and other CCs. Something I find useful is to consider how many times various people have declared that "Bitcoin is dead". Decred is no different and will likely experience both large downward and upward price swings as volume and demand at exchanges surge episodically. Instead of focusing on the downward movements, we are building the infrastructure that will give us the propulsion needed to get more upward swings. That said, I just published a blog+forum entry about the near-term work being done to decentralize important decisions via our PoS system. There is a major web overhaul in the works, which will land as part of our next release (0.7.0). I will be publishing another entry on the longer term roadmap in the next couple weeks. Part of the delay with this recent post about upgrading consensus was that we were still working out the details of the process.
Hi @jy-p , I'm actually not worried about the price (yet), I'm still mining DCR and buying DCR at this pricing to stake =). Was wondering where I can divert people to you with regards to interviews and questions if there are any =). If there were people interested, I could divert them to you via Slack as well right? Since most of us uses Slack, I think its easier for everyone. EDIT: I have read up on the blog post and I do hope all the testing goes well =).
