I don't know. But it's good when people give away their coins at low price. I made a ton in the previous cycles and the next one won't be any different.
Im about to purchase more myself soon, just waiting a bit for the price to stabilize a bit tbh though I thought it would have sat at 1.70 for longer.
As another member mentioned in another post, those who bought in in anticipation of a bubble are exiting now that they think it's not happening. They never had any belief in the project: to them it's another pump-and-dump coin. Will the bubble happen: yes. Even without substance behind it, a pump at some point is inevitable. My guess is the pumpers are waiting for the afore-mentioned parties to bail out before starting a pump, because otherwise they'd have a dump going on before they could make a profit. If you look closely, you can also see the top balances at bittrex are holding tightly all the way from 0.006 down. Those are people who are in it for the long-term, and there are quite a few.
What do you see the long term for decred to be? How will it differ from bitcoin? Where do you see the cost decred to be in the coming years?
A good point to remember is that nobody actually knows what will happen. With limited information we can only make educated guesses as to the outcome. I believe Decred will rise in the long-term to a more significant fraction of BTC than it is now, and probably stabilize. When that will happen? Most likely the stability won't come for a few months, since pumps and dumps throw chaos into the equation. However, within a year or so, assuming the developers and community stay dedicated to the project, I would assume Decred will stabilize at well above 0.01 BTC. That is my educated guess.
Totally agree, and in fact it was probably me that mentioned the bubble. I'm quite encouraged that it's a pretty slow drop in price. Like I said in a previous message, this just means the speculators are getting bored waiting for the bubble and moving else where. Bittrex has been a sea of red for a couple of days now at least, so it's not just Decred. Decred is also always in the top 10 currencies traded by volume, out of almost 200, so there's definitely still interest. As has been mentioned, this is just the next phase in Decred's development. We're past the early speculator boom phase and we got out of it without a massive drop (it's been a slow decrease). Also remember that it's only been out for a couple of months and is still very young. There's no good GUI yet (there will be very soon though) and this is a huge brake for many people. Understand that the vast majority of the population has no idea how to use a command prompt for instance. This is the best time to buy as @BoMBeR said. I expected it to plateau at 1.70 too, but that didn't happen. A dollar is possible, but probably not much below that (mostly because at that price I'll buy it all ). I think @anvoice is right; 0.01 seems about right in the short term (~1 year). I think that in the long term we could even see $50USD if bitcoin falls over as some are predicting, but that's a discussion for another time .
Why anyone should be worried, unless they played the whole buy & sell game wrong way. With airdrop+PoW+PoS included, my break even is below 0.0002 and now i am buying and with that involved its some where in 0.0015 range so its all good.
Exactly. It's not a bad thing. I see the price falling as a good thing. This will hopefully bring more people that see this as a good time to buy when looking at the last few weeks of Decred's price history.
And old quote and I can not remember where it is from... "People buy lots of underwear when there is a sale on underwear. Why don't they buy stocks when there is a sale on stocks?"
I definitely did something wrong if your break even is at 0.0002 @sambiohazard However I am still positive at this point, plus I'm not worried considering close to 20% of decred is in the PoS and i forget the percentage of decred that developers have that isnt being touched for at least 10 more months. So That means a good majority of the coin can't be dumped making the coin completely worthless.
Price will continue to drop in the short term for several reasons and as many of you who have been around for a while already know this. Reasons are as follows. 1) Project was new, supply of coins was limited so price was high. (this has been assisted by staking removing ~24%) 2) People who wanted coins have been purchasing, once people reach the quantity they want they slow purchasing behavior; this is seen after almost every launch. 3) There was a bull market in all of crypt in jan feb mar (look at the chart of MAIT/EXE/ETH/EXP/SYS they all have the exact same pattern as DCR). This feeling of wealth in the more established cryptos lead people to branch out and some spilled into dcr. 4) Hype has worn off, now the dev team must keep working (those ~weekly updates are great) 5) The low volume of the coin leads to fast moves in either direction The coin I expect will go well down in dollars/btc in the near term, i fully expect to see it below a dollar at some point. This is the nature of crypto right now. When it gets low enough the big fish will start buying slowly. If in 6 months to a year the dev team makes great progress and the coin is solid, you will start to see large pumps. If the coin survives those pump/dumps then it will have a future on the market. The dev team is committing their time and effort to a token that will likely have little value in the near term. They probably know everything I have written and more. However, since they are willing to invest time and effort in something they believe it I think the long term will work out. The short term price of dcr will be down and likely a lot of the crypto space will be down for the near term. I can assure you at once its near $.50 I will start acquiring.
I think you mean 0.002. That aside, I bought at 0.006 and I'm not worried in the least. If I didn't think now is pretty close to bottoming out I'd sell and acquire more at the bottom.
Nope, i do mean 0.0002. I consider PoS to be cost free as i am not dedicating any resources other than the bandwidth for it. I add the mining cost & free airdrop coins and it works out to be ~0.0002. I haven't bought any infact i sold some of my mined coins for ~0.0046/coin. I haven't calculated price with recently bought coins.
I am reading this as 0.0046btc and 0.0002btc? 0.0002btc would be 0.09$. That makes more sense. I have PoSd more than 650dcr. I consider these free as well. With what I have purchased I think I am at about .0011btc.
My procrasination apperently made me miss out on a lot of free money. It is always better late than never though and ive recieved 105dcr myself from PoS. I just need to know how to play that market in order to gain more funds as ill be holding for the long run! To bad i didnt have any btc for that littledip. Looks like we will are going back up, atleast for today.
Looks like the dip is correcting itself a bit. Assuming most of those who got on board in wait of a bubble got off, there shouldn't be too significant a drop ahead, possibly an increase.
