Hi my name is Lance Kasper, I've been interested in crypto and distributed consensus for a number of years. I was heavily involved with BitShares early on and designed some aspects of the system and consensus mechanism, I worked on it full time for a while and really hoped to stay working full time in this field but had to go back to the biopharma field when it looked like I would run out of runway. I was part of the Decred sharedrop and also bought some more early on. I'm not sure if Decred has enough compelling differentiating features to garner sufficient excitement to really take off, but I've been impressed with the dev talent and it seems like a nice well-meaning project. I've been working part time on some ideas and code with a business partner who is an amazing crypto coder but I think we could be more productive collaborating with like minded people on other projects. I'm in Chicago... Any chance to have a Chicago Decred meetup sometime?
Thanks Alexoz! Has there ever been a Decred meetup as far as you know? There's an Ethereum meetup group in Chicago that's pretty active and has people who are pretty open minded about altcoins.
