Hi all, Can someone tell what is the right way to pronounce decred? Is it ok how it sounds using this tool? http://www.naturalreaders.com/index.html Not sure if the way I said it at this video is correct:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1290358.msg13257292#msg13257292 I personally read it as "De - cred", "Dee - cred" doesn't sound right to me
I pronounce it "Dee-cred," the same as "dee-bone" or "dee-centralized." [edit]also, wow dude, if you're coughing that hard you should record another take.
It is Dek-red. All others are wrong. I have spoken. Or typed... Also I'm Australian, so blame it on the accent.
There is no need to guess. The correct pronunciation is in the opening line of the Decred Constitution. Decred (/ˈdi:ˈkred/, /dɪˈkred/, dee-cred) In other words, @ClokworkGremlin is correct. It's a long e as in the word decentralized.
dont worry mate, imagine if you were kiwi... probably pronounce it like dik-hed (sorry kiwi's, couldnt resist) love you all
I felt the same way when I learned "Celtic" is pronounced with a "K" sound. Which also means Celty Sturlson's name isn't supposed to alliterate like it does.
So since we don't have a hearing example now on a video or anything else, isn't Decred pronounced like how google translate pronounce it with listen button while it's set to english?
No, Google translate improperly pronounces it with a short e. As posted earlier it's a long e as in the word decentralized. Here is a link to an mp3 with the correct pronunciation: Decred Pronunciation
