    Hello all,

Myself and tpruvot (well known cpuminer/ccminer developer), are operating a stake pool for Decred users.
New users are welcome to signup at the following link:

    http://stakepool.eu/

Instructions on pool voting are included on the pool interface, but should you have any doubts or questions on how to use the service or about our pool, do feel free to post here and we will help out.

Our pool operates on 4 dedicated servers, distributed across multiple providers in Europe and US. The webserver (main pool interface) is a single box, so any minor downtime on that particular provider will cause the interface to go offline for that period.
The wallet (voting) servers however are fully redundant, and we're using different providers and regions, to ensure that voting uptime is top notch, and latency is optimal all around.

Pool Fees are currently set to 5%. Given enough user participation, and assuming that the DCR valuation permits, we will most certainly lower the pool fees at a later date.

Pool contacts can be made via via PM on this forum, or via the e-mail address that you'll find on the pool interface (not posted here to prevent the address being harvested for spam).

    Any questions, fire away! :)
    - Myagui -

Edit: Pool fees lowered from 7% to 5%!

Signed up and hopefully I'm set. Thanks for the help and patience Myagui.

    **EDIT**
should there be a message in the wallet confirming I'm actually staking? will it use all the funds in that wallet?

Awesome @proletariat , great to have you with us :)

The commands that tpruvot posted are the most useful ones for an understanding of what your wallet is setup to do. If you have setup automatic purchase of tickets, and no reserve balance, yes, the wallet will try to buy up tickets up to the total of your balance. You can set a reserve balance at wallet launch for example, by adding --balancetomaintain=X (replacing X with your desired minimum balance amount).
I think most people have opted for not having the wallet automatically purchasing tickets, and instead, issue ticket purchases whenever the price feels favorable. This is a more involved approach, though it does add the potential of better earnings if one only picks up tickets at their lowest price points.

There's also a standalone official ticket buyer tool that was recently released, seems rather powerful and valuable for someone that is holding or potentially purchasing a large number of tickets. I've not experimented with this one yet though, it is yet another thing to learn :p

I didn't set a reserve balance and did it on automatic buying... and since i was excited and couldn't wait to start earning something, I increased max from 20 to 25 :p

I have trouble understanding what's going on though. all my balance left my wallet, tried to track it on the explorer but couldn't, got 142 live/immature tickets which adds up to around 75% of what I had in my balance, couldn't find the remaining 25%. I guess the price went over my max and that 25% is locked up somewhere?

I just want to see ONE new staked coin in my wallet.... i have beer and confetti ready for the occasion.. wonder when

@proletariat , since you had no reserve balance, the wallet will try to buy tickets up to your total balance. It does not ever exceed your max ticket price though, so if you set 25 and tickets are costing 25.1, the wallet will stop buying (until it gets below 25 again).

There's one disadvantage about automatic purchasing, which is that you are you are using whatever ticket fee is setup on your wallet: and people that are manually purchasing, will adjust their fees to make sure their tickets get mined. So if your wallet tries to buy tickets during a time that a lot of people are buying, there's a chance that those tickets don't ever get mined due to low fees, and the corresponding balance stays in "limbo" for some time (just until the next price adjustment IIRC).

To trace your ticket balance, you can lookup your "pool address" on the explorer, this is the address that you bought tickets for.
Also if you run something like: dcrctl -u youruser -P yourpass --wallet getbalance * 0 all , you should see your full balance. (Not sure now about possible yet-to-be-mined ticket purchases though).

Tickets take a while to mature, so there's some wait there between buying tickets and finally start earning stakes, but for that amount of tickets, you should have 2 or 3 votes on an average day once they are all mature. Pretty sure you'll be picking up that confetti & beer soon enough ;)

hehe.... it ain't fun dealing with a complete noob when you are proficient at something and it is basically second nature.... So thanks again.

Last thing: can I shut down my three cli windows now since I'm in a pool?

    All good mate :)
Yep, you can close wallet/daemon and all, the pool will be voting for you!
Do note, once you stake, the corresponding ticket balance (and vote reward) are then finally back in your wallet after some maturing time. As I said, you can trace the funds locked in tickets by browsing the explorer for your "pool address", but in effect, you can also look at your "signup address", the one that you picked up the pubkey from when signing up with the pool.
The "pool address" is where your tickets are going into (so both your or pool can vote on them), but then the vote earnings and the return balance, goes to your "signup address", so that only you can control your funds. All of this will make a bit more sense after you get to explore some of your voting transactions :)

Hey @proletariat ! Indeed, a recovery feature is not available yet, though I understand that is already in the plans.
I didn't get your e-mail though, so will look into that. To confirm, did you send to contact@stakepool.eu ?

Please send me a PM here to let me know what e-mail you signed up with.
Hopefully that'll be all that we need in order to get your login restored.

    Cheers!

Yes, im sorry for you, and seems to be a common problem on decred. We have checked the logs for this missed ticket with the decred team and it appears its not related to a connection/setup problem but to a problem with the PoW mining system of some MPOS pools.

Its why they added a note on the main decred.org site on the stake pool list about that.

These MPOS pools are not open sourced yet and they were unable to dig more informations about the problem. We seen that also during the testnet setup, more often, due to the reduced network peers and block time.

This pool isn't responding to support emails. I sent to contact@stakepool.eu but got "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" after 24 hours.

Looks to be that the e-mail issue is still not completely resolved. Would appreciate if any pool user trying to reach us would send a PM here instead, just for the time being.
