    Yep welcome to the underworld.

Dominating hardware vendors (Intel, AMD) have no ethics and put all this crap into consumer products. They claim it is to help enterprise sysadmins manage arrays of hardware remotely. But somehow they stuff it into _all_ products, even not targeted for enterprise.

Despite media efforts to educate people, so far consumers seem not to care enough to burn couple Intel offices, so Intel keeps putting more and more sophisticated low-level spyware into newer products.

    What you can do:

    * Research how to neutralize Intel ME on your current hardware
    * Consider older hardware, there was some success with liberating ThinkPad X200 or even X230
    * Maybe Intel Atom based netbooks have less of this?
    * Avoid Intel and AMD alltogether by hunting ARM-based laptops (e.g. ASUS C201)
    * Put your money into more open efforts like puri.sm, EOMA68, Talos secure workstation or OLPC

Thanks! It's helpful to see that there are some options.
