Are you talking about the mempool fees or the bar actually labeled "Ticket price?" Because if the latter... voting does not work that way.
Look below the pie chart on the left. That box shows the calculated average ticket price from the beginning - a moving average. When the ticket price falls below the average price, I buy. Now, if the mempool is big (long line) then I will look at average mempool fees to jack up the fee that I pay per ticket. This is so that I can get all the tickets I need before the next difficulty adjustment. Usually I get the tickets for .01DCR transaction fee. Sometimes, like last night, I need a larger quantity (50ish); so, I had to increase that setticketfee setting a bit.
Alternatively, the mainnet pool shows the stats including difficulty here. This is what I base my max price on.
OK, so that is simply the calculated PoS difficulty (read: ticket price) with a smooth interpolation line between the points, calculated as a function of how many tickets are currently in the staking pool vs. the desired number (40960). At least, that was my understanding.
That is the info I get (for my own wallet) with the dcrctl --wallet getstakeinfo command. To my knowledge, you can't compute the moving average from only that information. DCRstats.com even shows a historical chart of ticket difficulty (price) so that you can be sure to buy on dips and lay off on price spikes (like now).
@Dyrk correct me if I am wrong, but I think it is a simple average of all prices paid since the first ticket sold. You can see the price history in the chart near the bottom of the page.
Yes, I just said that the difficulty is displayed there because this is a simple way to get the current ticket price, not to calculate anything.
Saw this: any thoughts? 22:27:37 2016-03-07 [ERR] WLLT: Cannot handle chain server voting notification W inningTickets: Error encountered attempting to create vote using ticket 81f22581 ca82299123aa973ef2a650c493708c20d92ec699205fb121af2518fe: failed to sign ssgen o r ssrtx, error: address manager is locked
It means your wallet noticed one of your tickets was selected to vote, but it couldn't vote because it was not unlocked. Your wallet has to be unlocked in order to vote. There is a pretty large warning about this in the log when the wallet starts up: Code: [INF] WLLT: PLEASE ENSURE YOUR WALLET IS UNLOCKED SO IT MAY VOTE ON BLOCKS AND RECEIVE STAKE REWARDS That said, I'm not sure why this is posted under the stake pool thread. EDIT: For future reference to anyone who sees this, if you have delegated voting rights to the stake pool and your wallet is not unlocked, you will also likely see this same message since both you and the pool have the ability to vote. As a result, your wallet will try to vote and not be able to if it's unlocked. However, in that case, it's not a problem because the pool will vote for you. In this particular case though, that can't possibly apply because none of the tickets that have been delegated to the pool have matured yet which means none of them could have possibly been selected to vote and therefore the ticket in question must be from a wallet that is solo staking.
Thanks, Dave. Just figured this out myself too. Also, embarrassingly, I intended to post this in another thread, but am all over the forum on the phone and made a goof. Thank you for the quick response/resolution.
Yes, you're right. For now it's just arithmetic mean of all ticket prices. And obviously you don't want to buy tickets when the price is high. But when the price is under the average, probably it's not a bad idea to set fee a little higher than average in mempool (if mempool is big because everybody buying) and get more cheap tickets and increase your final profit.
Slight misunderstanding. That is exactly what I do, adjust the value as the average changes. What I am suggesting is to have the computed value stored in a variable AvgTicketPrice. This way it could be used like this: --wallet setticketmaxprice=AvgTicketPrice The wide adoption of which, would smooth price action greatly.
If mining at pool Can closed my pc and still mining Or then I will lost my tickets ?? I mean I must have all day open my pc for mining at pool with pos ??????
Yes you can. Thats the purpose of the POS pool. For people who can't run their pc all day. So yes you will still get votes on the POS pool.
These is good any how I buy tickets with the same way like the solo Mining ? Also which command I must used for see if my tickets had expired or voted????
I think I misunderstood your idea initially, let me take another shot: You're suggesting that if more people set their max ticket price equal to the average price, it would smooth out the ticket purchase rate and, by extension, the ticket price adjustment? Am I getting that right? That makes a lot more sense than what I had originally assumed. Honestly though, IMO, the wild swings are more symptomatic that the calculation function isn't quite properly tuned. Also given the stake pool is still consistently larger than the target value(and STILL trends upwards), I think the tickets probably need to be even more expensive than they currently are.
Yup... The the prices are heading that way, soon the price will stabilize as more people start staking. Like @davecgh had said, might even go as high as 100-200 per ticket.
