This post is for everyone who has issues with their dcrwallet (not showing the correct balance): https://decreddiscovery.blogspot.com/2016/03/run-your-dcrwallet-without-command-line.html Also, the stakepool website is up and running again. The 504 error has happened to me before, just wait a few hours and try again.
Ok so i was thinking of using the stakepool as i might be away from my PC for sometime. I am thinking of creating a new wallet and send my free funds to it, add the stakepool address to this wallet and let it buy tickets and shut it down. Restart my current wallet but stop buying tickets, after that slowly over time move rest of my funds from current wallet to new wallet as the tickets in current wallet vote and funds become available. I hope this plan has no problems in it, please let me know if something can go wrong this way. I dont want to mess around in same wallet with tickets bought from 2 different addresses. Also are devs completely sure that accounts are now working? This is important to me as pool address is imported into "imported" account which is different from default account so w/o accounts working correctly everything could be messed up. On a sidenote, i read in bitcoin core dev IRC that bitcoin is going to remove support for accounts in upcoming release and they think that its a feature almost no one uses and is quite buggy in its implementation. They also favor coin control over accounts. What do decred devs think about this? @ceejep @davecgh @ay-p
Seems like a solid plan, @sambiohazard! I cannot think of anything that could go wrong. Best luck with the implementation! As for the stake pool itself, I would love to see on https://stakepool.decred.org/tickets which tickets have voted already. Because right now I can see all the tickets I have ever bought, but some have voted already. For example, it would be great if we could filter our ticket collection on live and on voted tickets. Is this a feasible front-end addition?
Accounts are fixed in Decred v0.0.8. The software does not use the same accounts method as Bitcoin does. So Decred's development is not parallel in that regard.
Just as a note, re-importing script is needed for those using the stake pool and for a reason they have to re-create their wallet from seed.
So if I update to v0.0.8, I have to recreate my wallet from seed? I've been running v.0.0.8 without doing that. Will that be an issue with staking at the pool? -tb-
I created an account at the pool before it closed registration, so I can log in. But when I try to generate the script by entering the pubaddr, it just does a gateway timeout. It's not possible to do that anymore, even if I have a valid user/pass ? I have to wait for the new pools to come?
Guys, I have a question. There is a difference in tickets between my stakepool account and my dcrwallet. Am I missing something? If not, what could have caused this? Any idea how to solve it? Wallet tickets: 42 (21+17+2+2) Code: --wallet getstakeinfo { "poolsize": 42437, "difficulty": 19.07924373, "allmempooltix": 0, "ownmempooltix": 0, "immature": 0, "live": 21, "proportionlive": 0.0004948511911775102, "voted": 17, "totalsubsidy": 31.37625531, "missed": 2, "proportionmissed": 4.712646386578383e-05, "revoked": 2 } Pool tickets: 43 As always: many thanks in advance!
Probably what happened is one of your tickets got pruned for being below difficulty. If you restored from seed, then you won't have that ticket anymore but the pool will still have it.
No you don't have to recreate your wallet from seed unless the release notes of some new version will instruct or recommend to. But if for some reason you'll have to recreate your wallet from seed with no older dcrwallet folder files, then you'll have to re-import the script or else you won't be able to check your tickets on pool with dcrctl --wallet getstakeinfo command. Also just as a note, if you try to re-import a script that is already imported to your wallet then you'll get a message that the script is already imported.
Might be some maintenance work. It was down for almost a day. But its back now. Personally I am quite happy with the working of the stake pool and the work that goes to making it better. Great job right?
One important thing to consider is that the front end for signing up and viewing your tickets is separate from the voting wallets... so you don't have to worry about losing your votes.
More then that. There are three or more backend wallets ready to vote for you, in three geographically different places. The web page is almost irrelevant.
As an example, pool Bravo will have five or 6 wallets physically located in Belgium, Australia, US and Taiwan with Japan coming when the data centre is operational.
hello . i have some dcr and i want to stake , but i have any software, key or nothing instaled , and my computer skills are low; can somebody tell me if is any option for me? cause i see dcr price falling down like crazy , and i beleive people is selling stakes or something , thank you in advance
Stake tickets are not the same thing as company stakes. All you do is take a small amount of decred and keep it locked for some time in exchange of a ticket. Locked decred cannot be spent. These tickets are chosen in random and used to vote on block. If your tickets vote you get a small reward.
