So I meant to set my mac ticket price to 15. I accidentally set my tx fee to 15. During the time this happened and I fixed it, I purchased 185DCR from bittrex. My wallet also purchased 4 tickets since it was set higher than I wanted as I set the wrong price. Somehow this all totalled 9 trasactions at 15DCR each.

So I'm out 135DCR. Needless to say I'm pissed at myself for stuffing this up, but given how similar the set price commands are I can see this happening to others who maybe can't afford to lose over a hundred DCR. Are we able to have some sort of 'Are You Sure' option when setting fees far above the average.

PS. If anyone sees my wayward transactions and pity's me, please send them home to DsagMYyCcQyb5cJCpLnKgDYeJoKGi8Pod7E

If not... well, at least use them to buy a beer or something.

    Ouch!

If anyone is interested, here is a block with a 15DCR fee https://mainnet.decred.org/block/0000000000000423617a1670a03cde2730a8493e780ddd0f4094711d985d89ec resulting in a very large subsidy for the miner!

I didn't realise until now that the Fees only go to the PoW miner, not the Dev subsidy or the PoS voters. This means in the far future when the block reward is low and all the reward comes from fees, there will be little incentive to buy PoS tickets, as the reward will be negligible compared to the TX fee for buying the ticket, and downsides of having locked balance.

Yeah, it seems like it should be split. If only PoW gets it, it also means there will be no dev subsidy in the future thus killing two of the main reasons that Decred is so good.

Yeah, I agree completely. I would rather see the fees added onto the block reward, then split 60/30/10.

I've created a new thread for this discussion, since your issue of no sanity check on large fees also needs addressing.
