I personally think 256 is right where it should be right now given the low difficulty of the network, the fact ASICs do not exist yet which means there will be massive variance in GPU mining as large miners drop in and out in order to maximize their mining time across multiple coins, and the relative immaturity and experimental nature of the new code. That said, it might make sense to lower it at some point in the future and the nice thing about the Decred is it has the PoS system in place so things like this don't have to be set in stone forever since it's possible to use majority votes to make decisions on whether they should be changed or not.
agree 256 is certainly a little slow but sure. The pool works better than the others and Use. withdrawals going smoothly
I have found 18 blocks, generated 318 coins but have lifetime earnings of only 176 coins on dcr.POOL.MN. Am I just a lucky miner so far (or rather unlucky) or are others having this same experience? I am wondering if this pool is being operated fairly. The pool itself run really smooth but I don't want to donate ~1/2 of my coins for it.

Thank you for your reply, @sambiohazard. I do understand both the point of a pool and how it works. Please try to understand the point of my question. I am trying to determine if this pool is fair. In other words, I am asking if anyone else has been unlucky to the extent that I have been lucky. Obviously, 99% of the coins need to be passed out. I do know that some unfair pools do not do this. In my case, I have received roughly 60% of the coins I mined (for the pool, I know). This makes me either extremely lucky as a miner, so far, or the pool is unfairly distributing mined coins to all. If miners at this pool have received more coins than they have contributed through found blocks, then I will keep mining at this pool - assured that my earnings will even out over time to 99% of my coins earned through blocks found. If many have had my same experience then I may be suspicious and consider moving to another pool. I know of no other way to determine if a pool is acting fairly. Please let me know if you do.
Still it should make you exactly as much as if you would mine solo. @Bill Threewits: In my case numbers match perfectly. The sum of all rewards received from the pools I use (suprnova and coinmine) matches pretty much exactly the coins in the blocks I found on these pools. Anything else would make me suspicious too.
i am not sure that needs to be the case. I haven't found any blocks but i get my rewards in proportion to my share count to total share count for pool. It depends on different type of payment schemes pool employ like PROP, PPS etc
He means that statistically, over time, the amounts will approach the same number (minus the pool's fee).
All three pools mentioned are PROP with 1% fee (0.99% for pool.mn). What I said above is valid. Your example doesn't contradict it in any way. It only tells me that you are by profession not necessarily a mathematician or statistician
Indeed i am not, i am just someone who browses the net and like to talk & help people. I have no specific qualifications.
Is there an official support path for dcr.pool.mn anywhere? I tried the contact form and tried an email someone said was the administrator but haven't gotten any response.
Tried 4 times to get support from dcr.pool.mn with no response for a small problem. I give up for now and will probably stop mining over there at all. It looks like noone is minding the store.
