yeah you have to unlock wallet everytime you restart it. I am not sure how to check if it is unlocked or not.

If wallet isnt unlocked it should show some error like - wallet is locked or address manager is locked.
While trying to buy tickets and all.

I think it wont warn you about being unlocked but any tx will not go thru and error regarding that will be shown. Something like Unable to send tx.

so how i can follow how much time passed since my ticket purchase? to know that my coins will return back if nothing is purchased?

and yes i received no error about the unlocked thing, so i must assume that it was working, but you can unlock it endless that's the problem, so you're not 100% secure that you have unlocked it...

I think there is no certain way to know when coins will be returned as voting is lottery like and you can only calculate probability of when you will vote. To see when you purchased a ticket you have to search dcrwallet log file for word "sstx" and see the time of that tx. On windows, log file is in "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Dcrwallet\logs\mainnet\dcrwallet.txt".

For endless unlock, unfortunately that is how staking works, consider it as risk for rewards you are getting. Also a way around it is to use stakepool. By using stakepool, you will not have to keep your wallet unlocked all the time but only when you want to buy tickets.

    Hey.
I thought I mentioned it clearly but still +
Replace "x" with the amount of money you want to have remaining in your wallet(This is spendable money). Once you buy tickets that money cannot be used for a time period and gets "locked".
"y" is the maximum amount you are willing to pay per ticket.

Eg. If u want 1coin to remain and all other coins to be locked for buying tickets -- replace "x" with 1.0
Y will be maximum amount per ticket.
The price of ticket changes around evry 11hrs. U can check it at - www.Dcrstats.com
Then put value like 20 in place of "y"

    Hope that clears ur doubt.

in the "dcrctl -u Ayers -P x.1 --wallet getbalance", there are only the unlocked and usable coins right?

i ask this because it unlocked the coins very fast after voting, i remember it was said that we need to wait 28 days, maybe that is for voting...i confused the two...

The 28 days is the average time to vote. Your tickets can vote at any time after maturity (which is 144 blocks; during this time they can't vote). When a ticket has voted the funds become available after the next block I believe.

They are immature for 256 blocks after voting, just like PoW rewards.

ah that's why it was fast, so 256 block one is every ten minutes right? almost two days
