Since I'm hopefully getting in on the ground floor and really want to talk to people about this new and great idea, I want to make sure I'm saying it right. Is it pronounced... 1. dee-cred (how I imagine) 2. dee-creed 3. deck-red 4. something else I haven't thought of Thanks.
Decred is pretty much a made-up word. "Decentralized credit" came up during brainstorming, but I don't think that meaning will really stick. We've been using the first form of pronunciation (i.e., "dee-cred"). Maybe it can take on a meaning people assign to it over time.
This was actually a question I was interested in seeing answered. Very glad to see it's been answered.
For anyone wants the IPA versions of it, I made two ways to write it, Decred /ˈdi:ˈkred/, /dɪˈkred/ DEE-CRED Also since we haven't covered the plural version yet I thought decredits would fit, but if anyone has a better one be my guest. Decredits /ˈdi:ˈkred·ɪts/, /dɪˈkred·ɪts/ DEE-CRED-ITS
Wow! Nice job. We should definitely use this IPA presentation of Decred. I'd say decred and decreds. 1 decred and 2 decreds. The same unwritten rule used in Bitcoin will likely apply in Decred. When referring to the technology, it's capitalised (i.e., Decred), but when referring to the currency, it's not (i.e., decred).
You will definivo? atoms (atomic units) liked the name! Atom is a basic unit of matter consisting of a core of positive charge surrounded by a cloud of negatively charged electrons. The atomic nucleus consists of protons and neutrons
