I totally understand why new sdiff algorithm is needed ASAP and thus voting yes for it. The problem was well documented in the GitHub issue and in the DCP-0001. Beyond that, all my PoS experience says it's a good move.

But I'm not so sure about LN.

There's plenty information in the Internet about LN, but I haven't seen anything about what LN means for Decred.

    * What are most important gains for Decred (besides hype and price pump)?
    * Do we need these gains now or can they wait for later?
    * What are risks for Decred? For instance, how much development resources will it draw away from other activities?
    * What is the schedule (development, testing, deployment) in case the vote passes?
    * How exactly LN is going to be used if Decred supports it? Will there be some e.g. payment processors supporting LN by the time Decred adds support for it?

I think a post concerning these questions would help holders (including myself) make a more informed vote.

These are good questions and @jy-p is working on a blog post which should answer them.

One positive I can immediately think of is cross-chain sends (aka atomic swaps) between compatible chains. That would be huge for both currencies involved.

This could also open up a great opportunity for projects like Counterparty, Bitshares, etc. to build-in support for such a system. Each decred wallet could then hold the DCR currency itself and digital tokens.

    Just a hypothesis :D
