Hello all, this is a quick run-down of my situation. I was PM'd on BitcoinTalk about claiming my confirmation in the airdrop in late January. I had not actually signed up to be enrolled in the airdrop prior, as at the time I had no idea what Decred was. I figured since I was a long-standing active member there I had been asked to participate in the project. After receiving the PM, I looked into Decred, and became very interested. It is the first alternative currency to Bitcoin I have ever been interested in, including LTC, ETH, etc. I love the project, I love the founding philosophy, and the hybrid PoS/PoW securing of the network. So being that my only experience thus far has been in BTC, when I hastily created the wallet and saved the .txt file, I just printed a picture of the seed words thinking they were saved elsewhere or not necessary. I misplaced the picture up until a few days ago, and didn't think twice of it after realizing I needed the seed words, I figured the airdrop funds were gone forever. I knew it was my mistake, so I carried on, went on to bleutrade and bittrex and purchased some DCR for myself. I also solo-mined a couple blocks with a GPU before killing the card :/ Anyways, I finally found the picture including seed words, added the wallet only to find that it was empty. I'm not sure if I was flagged on the selection process for a duplicate entry (which is strange, since I definitely did not submit a duplicate entry, I never even technically applied to enroll in airdrop and was "cold-called" by _ingsoc). Is there any way to check if my airdrop was denied somehow? My confirmation ID was 66a6ef1af1a2ce671a14d547f8d5211a, first address DsnzeDboUFGCbbuaJPr84KWfyZnTdiqzRbW. Either way my belief in the project is not faltered, I have purchased a substantial amount of decred and believe in it, and have my entire DCR balance staked for the long-term. I have no interest in dumping the airdrop funds and carrying on, it's just a little disappointing. So is there someway to check my confirmation ID to make sure I didn't deposit it into the wrong address?
There are no tx related to that address, so you were never selected for airdrop. If you want to check if your address is correct then you can use verify.bat file provided with dcraddrgen utility. Just input your seed in that utility after running it, it will give you an address. This address should be same as your address you submitted for airdrop.
I enrolled in the airdrop with a confirmation link PM'ed to me by _ingsoc on Bitcointalk. After creating the wallet seed, I registered for airdrop using that confirmation link, and was given a confirmation ID confirming said registration. I am just assuming it was rejected during the review process for some reason, and was wondering if there's anyway to receive confirmation of that rejection on some grounds. I confirmed the address with verify.bat as well.
Well according to the first block, your address did not receive an airdrop. (I know there was also a list on Github, but I didn't find it because I'm lazy and impatient.) This (now-locked) thread has some information as to why applications may have been "rejected" even if they got a confirmation. Assumption is probably that the system identified your application as a duplicate and you were consolidated along with someone else. No system is 100%, so naturally some legitimate applications are going to be rejected and some frauds are going to be admitted. On the bright side, at least you didn't fail to complete the enrollment process and then throw a temper tantrum about not getting an airdrop before getting laughed out of the community.
I do not know if you are able to retrieve the coins, but am glad to know that you believed enough in Decred to invest.
LMAO, I was just reading some of those (tantrums). I was quite hesitant to post this in lieu of some of these douche bags, but I was looking for some closure on it (especially after thinking I lost the seed, only to find it, only to find out I didn't get the airdrop) It will all work out anyways, just a little disappointed since it wasn't actually a duplicate entry. Still, a small loss for the greater good of Decred to keep some of the poison out. I was able to retrieve the wallet used for the airdrop, but for some reason or another my airdrop was flagged for removal.
It's cool. Sometimes unfortunate things happen and all you can do is report it so that somebody knows. I think it's for the best that you did, and I'm glad that your application ending up on the cutting room floor didn't sour your trust in the currency too much. I honestly don't know whether I would have handled it as gracefully in your position. To succeed, Decred needs a community. There is no way around that.
Easy come easy go, I hadn't actually applied to be a part of the airdrop, I didn't even know about the Decred project until I got PM'd in January. It's quite possible the PM I was sent from _ingsoc with a confirmation link was just a mistake. I just wish I would have got involved with the project sooner. Edit: Loved the comments on the DeLorean from the other thread, I was laughing at that yesterday. I was more of a call-box/air guitar fan myself.
