I have used the various guides on here setting up a node etc. I had a lot of issues with TLS to start with but I have sorted that.

No commands work using dcrctl because of TLS issues oversized record

CCminer seems to be mining but my hash rate is terrible 90 M/Hs

I am also getting these errors

23:09:33 2016-02-20 [WRN] DCRW: Connection to Decred RPC chain server unsuccessful -- available RPC methods will be limited
23:09:33 2016-02-20 [ERR] WLLT: Unable to request transaction updates for winning tickets. Error: the client was never connected

I dont even know if its actually mining ok.

I am running a windows machine with plenty of decent CPU and RAM power

Check your username & password are correct for both wallet & daemon to solve the connection problems. Also most people are using GPUs to mine this coin, your hashrate is terrible because it seems you are mining with your CPU instead. If you do not have a dedicated graphics card, i would suggest you to stick to PoS mining.
