Looking at https://mainnet.decred.org/address/DsVJ7hnsqAuMg8YBDAzGGU4njAatqmdoiwt it looks like several airdrops were all consolidated together into one address. Now, this could be someone buying up large amounts of decred on launch day. But I would imagine that someone who actually went to the trouble of *buying* DCR would then have used it for PoS, or sold a little when the price was high. Instead, it's all sitting there untouched since launch. Looks like someone made multiple accounts and consolidated them all immediately after launch? Not much we can do about it now though. Only option would be to set our PoS votes to prevent any movement of these funds. I don't think getting into blacklisting accounts would be a good idea though! That would set a very dangerous precedence. I was just mapping some transactions and thought it was an interesting pattern!
@_ingsoc I think that someone passed the checks and made 5 airdrop registrations as @Kandiru found on first post. Isn't it possible from airdrop addresses to at least track that user(s) and let us know if any of the active forum user(s) is involved to this possible fraud. I know that there is no effective measure that can be taken about it now though.
I know that Blizzy received 3 airdrops, he confessed in his last letter to _ingsoc, and he forwarded that message to me too, because I helped him to configure VPS for PoS mining in personal chat on the forum (we talked a lot, 7 pages of messages). I also know another person on the forum, who received 9 airdrops.. however I'm not going to report this, because it doesn't matter and I actually don't care about these guys
9 aidrops, I'll never be able to mine/PoS that amount, ever. It's a bit unfair, for a process that was supposed to be checked closely.
Yeah man! I am sort of jealous too!!! But "easy come easy go" So he may not be able to use evrything. *Karma*
And it was checked closely few times: https://forum.decred.org/threads/final-airdrop-review-process.534/ Only 2800 users received Airdrop coins, while there were ~ 8700 participants. Devs did really a great job and increased your airdrop amount +200DCR (comparing with amount for 8700 users).
The airdrop process can be reviewed as it happened using the Airdrop tag in the Announcements section. You should also keep in mind that some people share accounts and control airdrop for others in cases where people are interested but do not yet find the Decred software accessible. There is no doubt that some cases do exist where people were able to misrepresent themselves, but these are exceptions. An incredible amount of effort went into the review process. To summarise the airdrop: A hard cap was set at 5,000 people in order to give each person a meaningful amount of coins and distribute the coins as far and wide as possible from day 1. In total, 8,793 entrants submitted applications for the airdrop initiative. A tremendous amount of effort went into the evaluation of each application. A number of metrics were used to judge each application: The validity of the URL provided to show online user presence (each URL was visited and judged individually) The comparison of the sign-up information of each participant with their confirmation information, and The comparison of each participant relative to all other participants. This process involved comparison of IP addresses, timestamps, and user agents at two independent phases (without announcement that these evaluations were taking place). Furthermore, the project performed cluster analysis using these aforementioned measures to investigate participants further. The original number of 8,793 was reduced to 2,972 the project judged as unique people. A person with fraudulent intentions would therefore have had to guess there would be two separate evaluation phases, already possess unique online presences linked to them, use multiple IP addresses and manipulate their browser user agent, whilst keeping the same pattern of manipulation consistent at the different phases. To date, the blockchain has presented very little evidence that fraudulent cases successfully bypassed the system devised - and given the manual effort that accompanied airdrop evaluation, as well the media attention given to the project, the final number of 2,972 unique people matched expectations as well. The claim is not that the system was perfect, but that every reasonable attempt was made to prevent fraud from occurring, and it appeared to have worked - despite some legitimate unique people being caught in the crossfire of the harsh evaluation methods, unfortunately. So the question you have to ask yourself is whether a few fraudulent cases matter (if they are fraudulent to begin with)? This is a long-term project. The commitment is for it to be a long-term project, as we all share a genuine interest in the technology. Sure, we may not have the flashiest marketing campaigns, and the software is still having quirks worked out of it, but we've all built a very solid foundation together, with some great people involved that are also very interested in the technology (most of which we haven't even been able to show yet). Judge the project against that, not the individual actions of people who are probably not in it for the long-term anyway.
On the top of that we should mentioned also that not so few people unfortenatly lost their seed and coins are so called burned - lost for ever.
"Lost their seed" is quite an euphemism Most of them simply did not write it down and thus destroyed it intentionally, thinking those words (along with the warning) appeared on the screen just for entertainment purposes.
I made sure i had my seed hand writen and also screenshotted and saved to a thumb drive just incase of a miss print or an accident.
Let's be honest. Cryptomoney is a meritocracy. It is given to the people who can prove they do useful work. That is PoW miners, PoS miners and yes, airdrop receivers too, if they did their (home)work. Those who were too lazy to write the seed down or take a photo (what an effort!!!) ended up with no coins. It works. The opposite of a meritocracy is our global financial ponzi scheme and the trickle down bullshit of the keynesian nutters (basically everyone in any leading position in our financial world).
And people who accidentally set their tx fee to 15DCR thinking it was the max ticket fee then proceed to make 9 transactions. Not that I'm bitter... *cough* EDIT: I spelled it 'there' >.< *dies*
I don't think it's very suspicious. It looks like someone directly bought a bunch of airdrops from someone early on. It appears that they directly received a number of airdrops at different times, with varying fees.
Several people in the Brazilian facebook group bought and sold their airdrops before the release. I bought some and it was a great deal. Each decred was sold around ~ 0.00050000 btc . In the day that dcr entered on bleutrade within minutes it was at ~0.00300000 btc
Great sense for business... That's a 1200% return on investment, if you sold at the peak of 0.006 DCR. And if you invested them in solo staking while the ticket fees were still 2 DCR, I assume that you've reached over 2000% on some coins...
Shit now your making me wonder, I honestly get that early adopters should be the first to adopt, bleeding edge so to say, but comeon we need that wallet so the rest of us bitter dumb dumbs can feel better again, also *coughs*
Do you see it OK? I like to check all the paperwork and software with the help of a clean screen of my devices. That is the reason I am happy to use for this purpose. As everything here is of high quality and assist to keep the screens clean.
