Just realized I can't mine to a remote wallet with TLS disabled. Hopefully, with mainnet, we can have TLS enable with Windows.

Must i insert the command in deamon or miner?
Is the -u and -p as in step 1 or 5?
And how do i check how many blocks i ve mined?

    Hi
with your guide I'm mining but I have a doubt with compiling start_local.bat. I have to enter in addition to user and password even my wallet Ts ... etc? thanks

sambiohazard, do you anticipate being able to get something like this out early after mainnet so we (miners who may need your guide to get going) can all get a jump on mining before the farms get on board?

I believe that the start_local.bat file consist of the things you need to input. all you need to do is change the -u user -p pass to your own user and pass, save and run. It should work. =)

Same here, tried this out with a hd 7800 series gpu. Its running 40 minutes now. (mining about 900mh/s on average)
Are we doing something wrong? or doesn't it just go that fast?

You should open a new command window and type that command in there. You should always use -u & -P with dcrctl that you used to start wallet ie same as step 5.

No you just need to change -u & -p, you already set your address for receiving mining reward in step 11 with --miningaddr parameter.

anondran, me & devs are already working on a combined guide on decred wiki. so i am sure when mainnet launched there will be a comprehensive guide available for all.

It probably just means that you are being unlucky or diff is too high maybe. What we are doing right now is solo mining. Its you vs all of others so there is low probability of mining a block.

Thanks for this useful guide !

Is there a pool in the testnet ?

Do you know if the devs are planning to organise mining pools for the mainnet or do miners have to create some themselves ?

I dont think there is a pool for testnet although you can ask devs if they can arrange to run one. Also, I am sure we will have some pools for launch from already established pool operators. Everyone is working towards that goal.

hey guys, I just can't figure out how to start mining itself, the deamon and wallet are running now, so that's all good.
when I run cgminer with benchmark everything works fine, an average of 1.5 GH/s on an older HD5850.. when I start cgminer like this "cgminer --blake256 -o 127.0.0.1:19109 -u MYUSER -p MYPASS" (username and pass same as deamon) it won't start. I get two messages: JSON invalid data then No suitable long-poll found for http://127.0.0.1:19109 and after a while No servers found that could be used to get work from, most likely wrong url, forgotten to add a port of worker setup.

does anyone know what's wrong and how to solve or troubleshoot?, how do I know the port is the right one?

Can you try waiting for sometime because it shows same message to me but it starts mining after 10 sec for me. I am not an AMD miner so i am not sure.

Most likely you have the wrong URL, forgotten to add a port, or have nog set up workers
Pool 0 URL http://127.0.0.1:19109 user: MYUSER Password MYPASS
Press any key to exit or cgminer will try again in 15 s.

i'm using a Windows 10 64bit machine, also with a 64bit CGminer version. Do I need a specific one? I presume that if anything is wrong it would tell me what but I cant find out why this happens.. I tried a non-existing username and pass and it tells me credentials are invalid so it seems to connect the right way with the correct credentials
