So I just wanted to say, I've only been a part of this forum for a couple days now and It's very nice to see how warming this community has been so far, and welcoming! It's great to be a part of this. Here's to something new and a very exciting new year! Yes it stands in stark contrast to many of the other crypto communities out there. My hope is that we can continue to be a role model long after Decred has launched.
Decred is launching at the perfect time, it will have firm roots in time for the halving event around summer/fall 2016.
Yes it would seem the developers have aptly chosen the launch date... The stagnation and infighting in the Bitcoin community that many of us are already part of has become frustrating, there has been very little innovation in the "altcoin" space as well, and looking at the market caps of some of the alts that are no more than simple derivatives of Bitcoin with minor changes such as higher amounts of coins, shorter block time, and a different algo, it becomes obvious that a coin with strong developer backing and some real innovations in governance could easily carve out a very important niche...
