I went to https://wallet.decred.org for the first time and noted that I had a new Personal Wallet created for me. I painstakingly wrote out the recovery phrase (wow it is painful to do in this wallet!), obtained the public address and posted 1 DCR to it from poloniex. Bad move, it turns out to be on testnet which you can only find out if you rtfm!! This is mad, there should be a big red flag saying TESTNET wallet, do not use!
Ok, thanks for the reply, I did find that from poloniex, but I wasn't sure that would be universally true. It would still be much better if the wallet made it clear, if only to save mugs like me spending an age writing out a testnet wallet backup phrase only to find it is useless. I can't quite understand why the process to take a copy of the backup phrase is made so tortuous; that isn't really going to help adoption.
Hey @johnnypoll. There is a plan to change the web wallet so it defaults to mainnet, I saw this being discussed on slack. Not sure if there is a PR or a github issue tracking this change. I agree with you that it may be worth calling this out in the interface (and/or the docs) until the change is implemented
